Thoughts About Intuition and Conscious Creation

17 December, 2009 (13:11) | Exploring Law of Attraction | By: Lanore

Some time ago I was reading a book about developing your intuition. I don’t recall the name or author of the book. In fact the only thing I recall about the book was how it dawned on me during one of the exercises that our own minds are what make sense of so-called intuitions. This is not to say that psychics are frauds because clearly a number of them are sincere. And who’s to say the meaning they offer is not helpful? But it is merely a natural human trait to make meaning from patterns, images, sounds. We cannot help but do this—we are hard wired for it. So whatever images or words stream through the consciousness of a medium or psychic or intuitive, it is possible that individual will weave a tale of meaning from those words and images and may fully believe the meaning to come from some supernatural source. Indeed, the meaning they provide may be so succinct and powerful, that it might well seem to have a supernatural source.

Thoughts about that concept percolated in me for some time. Later it occurred to me that if mediums, psychics and such make meaning from the sounds and images that spring to their minds, wouldn’t it be logical to assume that we ALL make meaning of the sounds and images we perceive in our daily lives. Well, of course we do. That’s just common sense, common knowledge. We even share these meanings with each other in broad ways, creating societal norms, laws, and whole contexts of meanings. Further, the meaning we take from our experiences of the physical world combines with our perceptions of memories to make new, more complex meaning. I wondered is this how consciousness creates more and more complexity, giving us more and more to make meaning of?

I am not a scientist, and claim only the most feeble understanding of quantum physics, particularly regarding the ability of consciousness to project itself onto and alter physical reality But this concept of our own consciousness making meaning of physical experiences and adding complexity with the added dimension of memory and cooperation with other consciousnesses makes sense to me. And it helps me understand just a little bit how our thoughts participate in creation. Literally.
