Shift to a Broader Perspective

15 February, 2010 (10:30) | Exploring Law of Attraction | By: Lanore

I’ve been having house dreams lately—you know those dreams where you find yourself in a house with dozens of undiscovered rooms? For me, such dreams always foretell of a spiritual leap into new understanding and discovery. Influenced by Eckhart Tolle’s fascinating work on consciousness, I’ve been thinking a lot about the space beyond thought.

Tolle’s work is very conducive to being able to see the split between the real Self and the ego self. When I say ego self, I’m talking about a false self that is nothing more than a collection of thoughts and ideas about what you are. Of course, you are not thoughts or ideas. Your mind produces thoughts and ideas, but that is not what you are. It is more accurate to say that you are that perspective that can observe the creation of those thoughts and ideas about yourself. Even that statement isn’t wholly accurate because with every attempt to say what you are, the ego only places more limitations on you. But for now, simply understanding you are not the thoughts, nor are you the mind that generates the thoughts about yourself. You are that which is beyond thought, which can observe such thoughts being generated.

Once you shift perspectives and see the ego’s thought machine at work, you can better understand the new information I will be exploring and how it relates to Law of Attraction. In the next few days I will be exploring this phenomenon and I invite you to explore and experiment with me and to post your results and thoughts in the comments section.

In the meantime, I invite you to Google Eckhart Tolle and take advantage of some of the free talks that are available online. You will be better prepared for the next discussions about Law of Attraction if you’ve had a taste of shifting from the ego perspective to the broader Awareness that is you.
