Managing Input: Protecting Your Vibration
When I first learned about Law of Attraction I suddenly became afraid of thinking. Once you understand that your own thoughts really do have creative power, you suddenly realize that your thought processes can be like a loaded gun in the hands of an untrained marksman. Like words, thoughts cannot be unthought (or unthunk, as my brother used to say). Fortunately, thoughts don’t have the staying power of spoken words. You can change your mind about a thought and replace it with another in any instant. But practically speaking, most of us don’t have the time or the awareness available to monitor our every thought.
But we do have the ability to encourage our mental processes toward happier attitudes.
So how do we do that?
It’s important to watch the input to your vibration. If you feed on a regular mental diet of violent television programs, depressing news stories, and reading material filled with mostly bad news, you can hardly expect to have a positive outlook. Now, while it is important to stay abreast of certain events in the world, you are sabotaging yourself if you don’t deliberately filter some of it out—particularly the part that you can do nothing about. It does neither the planet nor the individuals and creatures on this planet any good for you to become overwhelmed by dark and scary news.
Depending on your sensitivity to images and ideas, an occasional movie or other entertainment that depicts violence or other undesirable scenarios might not affect your vibration much, but a constant diet of these things certainly won’t help you raise your vibration. Substitute sporting events, comedies, and upbeat documentaries for some of the current good versus evil fare you’ve been mentally ingesting to keep your vibration in the zone that brings the creations you most prefer.
Be careful about the influence you allow others to have in your life. While the people in your life are there because you attracted them, you still have the power to influence them, rather than surrender your own vibration over to them, to raise their vibration while raising your own vibration at the same time. If you regularly participate with others in bashing co-workers, politicians and other public figures, the government, bosses, friends, etc., you’re not helping yourself. I like what Law of Attraction teacher, Michael Losier says about this issue: When you catch yourself complaining about something, stop and ask yourself, “What do I want?” That’s a great strategy to get yourself to shift from what you don’t want and focus on what you do want. And it’s a great way for you to turn a conversation into one that yields better results for all participants. What a great gift to bring to others.
It’s a lot easier to move your vibration where you want it to be if you cultivate better mental habits. You can do this consciously, deliberately, and regularly. It’s a lot easier to create what you want when you nurture a positive mental environment.
