The Trick to Holding a Focused Intention

7 February, 2010 (09:06) | Exploring Law of Attraction, Focus and Attention, Intention | By: Lanore

Grandmother’s age old wisdom told us if you can’t say anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. Now Grandmother knew how to get along in the world, and her words are helpful. But she left out something vital to those of us who understand Law of Attraction. She never told us that our thoughts could be as detrimental to our well being as our words if they are not in alignment with what we desire.

In an earlier post I mentioned Abraham’s (of Abraham-Hicks) claim that your vibration about a given subject is where you last left it. Those of us familiar with Law of Attraction know from experience that you’ve got to keep your intention clear about a given subject. You don’t want to try to mess with the details that go into a creation, but you want to be clear about the end result you desire. The problem is most of us set a clear intention and then our little human minds keep going back to that desire and tinkering around with it. And because most of us have limited control over our thoughts, our worries and anxieties, the result we intended gets shifted because our intention gets filtered through our worries. We generally we end up with something that looks like a watered down or twisted version our original intention that far falls short of what we really desired.

It’s really difficult for most of us to micro-manage each thought that goes through our heads. That ego-mind is very busy at all times generating scenarios for us to spend our energy on. Most of the stuff the ego-mind generates is not in alignment with what we want and these thoughts can mess up our vibration in relationship to things we’re trying to create.

Instead of trying to maintain a consistent focus regarding an intention, I find it much easier to set the intention, relax and see our desire manifested in our mind’s eye, focus briefly, then let it GO. When it comes drifting back into your mind, remind yourself you’ve already set your intention for that and let it slide past your conscious mind, trusting it is taken care of.

If you do this, you won’t have to police the quality of your vibration surrounding the subject–your vibration will be where you last left it regarding this subject. This frees up your energy to focus on other issues you’re trying to get clarity on and you’ll find it makes you a much more effective deliberate creator.
