Intention: The Foundation of the Creative Process

In an earlier post, I mentioned the inadequacy of positive thinking as a creative power. In fact, positive thinking is nothing more than a sort of lubricant to reduce resistance in manifesting your desires.

The real power behind Deliberate Creation is setting an intention. Intention is the Word, the Cause, the Reason behind a manifestation and from intention flows all action and energy required to make the intention manifest.

Inherent in intention is the commitment to see the intention manifest. That commitment charts the course for your thoughts, decisions, and actions along the way as you progress toward the manifestation of the intention.

You must be clear about what you want in order to set a firm intention and fully commit to it. A lack of clarity invites conflicting desires to emerge and cloud your intention, weaken your commitment and scatter your energy and actions so that they miss the target of your intention.

Clarity of intention often causes confusion. There have been times in the past when I’ve felt that committing myself to an intention prohibited me from making other choices. I’ve wrestled with myself over choosing between two paths when one seemed to exclude the experience of the other. Sometimes different courses of action really are mutually exclusive—you just can’t do both things. But for most things, we can simply make another decision and change course when we decide to. But again, clarity of the choice is key.

When you’re struggling with finding clarity of intention, shift your focus to how you want to feel, rather than the specifics of what you want. Set your intention on how you want to feel and allow that feeling to illuminate the specific form your intention should take.
